Vegetable Prices to Remain Stable During the Holiday
According to a national monitoring website on agricultural products reported that prices for agricultural products will remain stable throughout the Spring Festival holiday. Although prices for leafy vegetables have dropped in the past week, prices of other vegetables have increased by ten percent on average.
Shenzhen residents left the city to spend holidays in their hometowns and have cause the decrease in demand which cause the drop in vegetable prices. Wholesalers have also lowered their prices just to sellout their products before traveling home. On a different note prices of fruit bought as gifts such as apple, watermelons, pineapples and oranges have increased around 9 percent, 7 percent, 11 percent and 7 percent respectively a week before the start of the holiday.
Prices for strawberries have dropped 30 percent as many local strawberries have flooded the market. Also pork prices are also expected to remain stable but prices for beef has increased 8 percent on average and is expected to increase more due to the large demand during the holidays.
