International Hospital to Offer Medical Services to Expatriates
A high end international hospital is being planned for Nanshan in Shekou. The hospital will be offering medical services for expatriates living in Shenzhen and across the Pearl River Delta. The hospital will have 200 beds and is the first comprehensive hospital to open for the expatriate population in the Guangdong Province.
The hospital is located at Shenzhen Bay Yacht Club and is scheduled to be finished by 2015 or early 2016. The hospital will be managed by a Singaporean company and is said to service expats living in Shenzhen and holds an overseas medical insurance card. Leaders of Shekou Industrial Zone started the hospital program in 2011in hopes to fill the need of the expatriate community in Shekou which is the home for the largest expat community in Shenzhen.
Expats living in Shekou complains of language barriers at local hospitals and they can’t even use foreign insurance to pay for their medical bills and treatment at the Shekou People’s Hospital and Nanshan People’s Hospital. While two clinics namely SOS and Canam offer simple treatments. Once the hospital becomes operational expats won’t have to travel to Hong Kong to get treatment for serious diseases.
