China Ranks Second with Most Number of Billionaires in the World
Based on Forbes magazine annual list of the richest people in the world, China has the second largest number of billionaires with 122 billionaires from the mainland, 39 in Hong Kong and 26 in Taiwan. The number was a step up from last year wherein the magazine listed 95 billionaires from China
The 2013 annual list of the richest people in that world listed 1,426 billionaires in which 442 comes from the United States, followed by China then Russia and Germany comes in fourth.
CEO of beverage giant Hangzhou Wahaha Group Co. Zong Qinghou has regained the title as the richest man on the mainland. Last year, Zong ranked 86th on the list with a net worth of US$ 11.6 billion and he is the only mainland billionaire with a net worth that exceeds US$ 10 billion. He is followed by property tycoon Wang Jianlin, whose Dalian Wanda Group Co. which acquired the U.S. movie theater chain AMC Entertainment last year, and is followed by Liang Wengen the founder of a construction machinery maket Sany Group Co.that has been busy with acquisitions in Europe and investments in the U.S.
Fourth richest person in china is Robin Li, the chairman and CEO of Baidu Inc. then followed by his peer Pony Ma the chairman of Tencent Holdings.
