Tokyo TDC to Visit Shenzhen as Part of Annual Tour Exhibition
Residents will now get the chance to appreciate the best type designs in the world. The Tokyo TDC 2012 a annual touring exhibition of the Tokyo Type Directors Club will be shown at the OCT Art and Design Gallery in Shenzhen.
This for will be the first time the club will be exhibiting in China which aims to present original works by top global type designers to more Chinese design enthusiasts plus create an international design platform exchange. Works presented are award winning submissions from 2012 and a selection if several best works in the past decade.
Among the exhibit will be a copy of the 2012 grand prix winner Comedy Carpet which was created by British artist Gordon Young for the Blackpool Council. The original work is found in front of Blackpool Tower which extends 2,200 which contains over 160,000 granite letter embedded in the concrete. The art work pushed the boundaries of public art to it limits. An interactive music video will also be exhibited featuring the song Bell performed by a Japanese rock band Androp. The game will make the player message of letters into an animal and it will travels to the world of music thus creating entertainment in the process while delivering the message.
Founded in 1987 the Tokyo TDC always stood out and led the Asian typography to new heights, attracting many front designers. The central focus of the group is to present a movable type of art with its profound connections in text and languages, as well as meeting the needs of enterprises and connections to graphic designs.
