A Part of Shennan Boulevard to be Moved to Give Way to Station Construction
A section of Shennan Boulevard will be moved northward to allow the construction of the Chegongmiao Metro Station which is a part of the future Metro Line 11. The section is found between Nonglin Road and Xiangmihu Road.
Currently workers are preparing the move by relocating tress and pipelines and by flattening the divider found in the middle of the road, the preparation work will take three months. Shennan Boulevard will still remain a two way road with 10 lanes in total, but vehicles using the road will have to slow down since the shift will be adding curves to the road and the major construction will take 30 months.
Chengongmiao Metro Station will have an area of 80,000 square meters and will have four Metro lines intersecting and is also considered as the largest Metro hub in the city and will see more than 250,000 commuters a day when it’s completed. The city spent 2 billion yuan in constructing the Metro line 11 last year.
Also the city will be relocating more than 9,900 tress for the construction of the Metro Line 9. So far around 80 percent of the trees are relocated and 90 percent of the trees have survived. Once the Metro projects are finished these trees will not be placed back to their original locations but new trees will be planted to take their place.
