Shenzhen Ranks First in Urbanization Quality in China
In terms of urbanization quality Shenzhen has ranked first among 286 Chinese cities. China Economic Weekly which co-conducted the research with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said that they have set 40 indexes in judging a city’s urbanization quality based on three aspects.
The three aspects are the development quality of the city, the efficiency of its urbanization and the harmony between urban and rural development. Based on these aspects Shenzhen had the highest urbanization quality followed by Beijing and Shanghai. Also five of the top 20 cities in China namely Shenzhen Zhongzhan, Foshan, Dongguan and Guangzhou can be found in Guangdong.
The urban population in China have already reached 712 million by the end of 2012 and the overall urbanization rate have risen to 52 percent which is near the global average. Experts say that the population urbanization rate is an important index in judging the quality of a city’s urbanization along with other aspects such as land urbanization, economy and the quality of life.
