Reknown Theater Director to Hold Training Sessions for Local Artists
Meng Jinghui a known Chinese theater director is planning to do regular training sessions and lectures on drama and art performances in Shenzhen. Meng hopes that artist in Shenzhen along with art lovers will get the opportunity to increase their understanding of contemporary drama.
Several well known domestic and international drama experts are holding lectures on art, esthetics and culture at the Futian Meng Jinghui Theater Studio a day before the opening of the 2013 Futian Distrcit Meng Jinghui Drama Season. The lectures and training session are free of charge. Meng, a leading theater director have increased interest in experimental drama in China along with his innovations in the field to a point that his name became synonymous with the avant garde and also in the alternative theater. His plays are also popular in small venues across the country further enhancing his reputation.
Meng have directed more than ten plays and have written a few plays as well. His stagings of several known acclaimed plays were known for his radical changes and adjustments which he said he gets inspiration from real life and from the people he meets.
As the drama season unfolds, Meng will have three plays performing in April namely Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Invisibles Love and Two Dogs which are all classic plays. And after each performance member of the creative team will be on hand and conduct a face to face talk with audience members.
Shenzhen is the third city in China that have establish a studio for Meng’s work aside from his workshops in Beijing there are other studios in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
