Shenzhen to Speed Up Work in Basic Infrastructure in the Next Three YearsThe construction of basic infrastructure projects around the city will be sped up over the span of three years based on a plan released by the Guangdong Provincial Government. The plans will accelerate the work on 460 projects in Guangdong which includes the ongoing expansion of the Shenzhen International Airport, the Shenzhen-Maoming Railway and the renovation of an old village in Futian.

Guangdong will also be building 16 national railways with a total of 2,075 kilometers for the next three years, while the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railways is near completion and once done completed the railway from Shenzhen to Maoming Railway will be started. Also work on the Hongmei-Shenzhen airport section of the Guangzhou- Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity rail will be continued along with the construction of the Xintang-Hongmei section.

The Shenzhen airport expansion is scheduled to be finished in 2015 which will increase the airport’s capacity to 45 million passengers, plus work on the Metro Lines 7, 11 and Line 6 will be continued over the next three years. There will also be 100 urban villages to be reconstructed with a total investment of 100 billion yuan this will include villages of Heyuan in Gangxia and Xinlaoxi Village in Ailian in Longgang.
