Shenzhen Gains Inspiration on Hosting Art Festivals
Petra Klingler, one of the eight international artists that took part in the exhibition, plans to raise awareness of the issues in Asia through the eyes on the individual artists. Klingler said that the art exhibit will give the Chinese people the opportunity to taste, see and smell the cultures and traditions of foreign artists. She also said that Shenzhen have a unique ideas and traditions that highly represent Shenzhen as its own and not a second Hong Kong or a second Shanghai.
An American artist said that Shenzhen’s cultural influence is increasing their influence but still requires sponsorship and bigger convention center for hosting large art exhibitions and a lot of younger people living in the city are trying to figure out what they want to be. So the city must help them nurture a cultural identity that will help them identify and give them a sense of belonging. He also suggests that the people in the city should look for traditions and for cultural identity.
