American Companies Donates Cash and Supplies for Quake Stricken Areas in Sichuan
Eighteen members of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China have donated more than 100 million yuan worth of supplies and money for the quake stricken areas in Sichuan. Also known as AmCham, is a nonprofit organization that is facilitating bilateral trade between China and the United States.
The organizations members have contributed to the donation efforts. These companies mostly American owned such as Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Amway, Apple, Nine Dragons Paper Co., P&G, Dell and Mead Johnson have moved to donated funds and materials. Coca-Cola donated 8 million yuan in cash and around 2 million yuan worth of supplies to the China Women’s Development Foundation. McDonald’s and Amway donated 5 million yuan each to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, while Apple donated 50 million yuan.
Meanwhile the Nine Dragon Paper Co. which is a joint venture in the paper manufacturing business has donated 10 million yuan in cash. These donations have exceeded more than 100 milion yuan and according to the organization some of its members have declined to be identified.
