City to Expect Heavy Rainfall in the Incoming Week
The city meteorological observatory said that the city will be experiencing rainstorms with gales today until tomorrow. Weather of the incoming week is expected to be cloudy with brief sunny periods and occasional showers since the city is now entering the rainy season brought by the southwest monsoon patterns.
The said rainfall happens 20 days around the Dragon Boat Festival is also known as the Dragon Boat rain. Meteorologists said that this is the most intense rainfall of the year in Guangdong and will start tomorrow and on June 20. The observatory estimates that the Dragon Boat rain will be weaker compared to last year with a total of 174 millimeters of rain. Because the rain last for several weeks is will be affecting broad areas and might cause floods in lowland areas. Drivers are reminded to avoid low lying areas that are prone to flooding and to take necessary precautions.
Since yesterday until today several provinces were forecasted to see rainfall of up to 80 milliliters of rain, while some areas in Guangdong and Guangxi will see downpours reaching 100 to 130 milliliters in the next 24 hours.
