Owners Chosing to Stop Using Yellow Label Vehicles to Get Subsidies Earlier
Drivers who chose to stop using any highly polluting or any yellow labeled vehicles a year earlier that legally required is eligible to get subsidies of 5,000 yuan to 18,000 yuan starting next month. Owners of yellow labeled vehicles that transferred from Shenzhen to other cities will get subsidies of 3,000 yuan.
An 18,000 yuan subsidy will be given to those who chose to scrap heavy duty vehicles earlier. Owners of compact vans can get subsidy of 5,000 yuan. Cars with engine displacements of more than 1.3 liters get a subsidy of 18,000 yuan, while drivers with vehicles with engine displacements between 1 to 1.3 liters can get a subsidy of 10,000 yuan. Those with vehicles with engine displacements of 1 liter and under get a subsidy of 6,000 yuan.
A yellow labeled vehicles are cars that failed to meet the National I emission standards and a survey has shown that there are more than 300,000 yellow labeled vehicles in Shenzhen and restricted on local roads especially during rush hours. Traffic police will further increase restrictions starting in July wherein yellow labeled vehicles with plates ending in 1 or 6 will be banned from the roads on Mondays, those with plates ending in 2 or 7 will be banned Tuesdays, 3 or 8 are banned on Wednesdays, 4 or 9 are banned on Thursdays and vehicles plates ending in 5 or 0 are banned on Fridays.
Then by 2015 the city will totally ban yellow label vehicles on roads.
