Transport Officials to Suspended the Use of Mobile Taxi Apps
City transport officials put to a stop the use of the mobile taxi apps to prevent drivers from refusing to take certain passengers. The mobile taxi apps used for calling taxis is popular in large cities in China and such apps can assist driver increase income and allows passengers to get more taxis faster.
But in a recent report have shown that the passenger transport management department of the transport commission has asked cab drivers to stop using the mobile app stating that some drivers were refusing to pick up certain passengers using the mobile app. Taxi companies and drivers that doesn’t comply with the order will be punished. Taxi companies since then asked their drivers to uninstall mobile taxi apps in their phones and to stop using the mobile app.
A Beijing based technology that develops the app said that around 4,000 cab drivers in Shenzhen were using the mobile app. But they received the order from the transportation department asking the company to stop promoting their app in Shenzhen. A spokesperson for the company said that their effort in promoting their app in the city will be in vain if local drivers will uninstall the app due to the order. He said that the local governments in Shanghai and Beijing are very supportive in the taxi finding apps since it was working well in these cities.
Several drivers and passengers felt bad on the stoppage of the app, since some drivers that the free app have helped them in finding more passengers. And one passengers said that he uses the app frequently and have helped him save time and is especially helpful during rush hours and rainy days
