Survey Showed Average Salary in Shenzhen Increased by more than 5 PercentBased on data released by officials from local human resources, the average salary in Shenzhen in 2013 is 4,104 yuan a month which shows a 5.5 percent increase from 2012. The amount was determined through a comprehensive survey of almost 300,000 employees from 1, 428 enterprises in the 68 industries in the city. The survey also showed that the gap in the high level and low level employees income has narrowed.

Monthly salaries for high level employees dropped 5.6 percent or 24,389 a month in 2012. Medium level salaries increased 5.3 percent to 3,248 yuan and low level salary increased by 7.8 percent or 1,725 a month. The income of a holder of a master degree is at 9,985 yuan a month higher that a holder of a bachelor’s degree income of 5,899 yuan a month. And for the first time the survey have included salaries of private school teachers.

The income of a headmaster of a private or non government school was at 8,000 yuan, while average salaries for teachers in junior high school dropped to 3,860 yuan a month and primary schools teacher’s salary also dropped to 3,268 yuan a month. Some say that these slalries are lower than the workers on assembly line and is the reason for the decline fo 30 to 40 percent of teachers in private schools.
