After evaluations of the hospital operations and patient satisfaction, hospital president and Hong Kong University professor Grace Tang said that the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital will adjust the daily treatment fee of 180 yuan in the inpatient department in a year.
Last May 20 the hospital implemented its initial fee standard but a lot of patients are saying that the standard fee of 180 yuan is too high. Administrators said that the fees are a combination of 86 smaller fees in six categories ranging from treatment, injections, nursing, basic medicine and oxygen. Other fees such as special medicine, beds, meals, consumptive materials and special equipment are not included in the standard fee charge.
Tang said that each and every patient have different situation and needs different services, so the 180 yuan fee is not fair to all patients since most of the patients that the hospital receives are in complicated conditions and needs a lot of this services every day. The fee was set to endure that the medical staff will focus on treatments that on calculating the expenses the patients have accumulated. By having set fees the efficiency and services can increase.
In other public hospitals in the city the standard fee is at 60 yuan with medicines not included and 240 a day with medicines and no extra fees are paid for beds.
