Drivers Given 15 Day Grace Period Before Fine to be Implemented
Drivers will be given a 15 day grace period before the punishments for vehicle violations caught on monitoring cameras that were recently installed by the traffic department. The 15 day grace period started last Saturday when the 10 sets of high definition cameras were installed in ten intersections across the city.
After the installations drivers gave suggestions that the department should also improve facilities such as traffic signals and traffic arrows before using such multifunctional cameras. The HD cameras can be used in recording vehicles that fail to follow directions, and because of this drivers should be more vigilant in turning to lanes, driving straight in no turn lanes. At local intersections drivers usually drive straight ahead in turn only lanes or will use no turn lanes in turning if other vehicles will not be affected.
The HD cameras also have video functions, which allows the cameras to capture illegal lane turns and crossing lane lines. So far Shenzhen I the only city in China to introduce such monitoring cameras and as of the moment have more than 2,000 sets of traffic cameras covering major intersections and road sections.
