Company Releases Thousands of Butterflies at Local State Park
Residents are reporting of large fuzzy white caterpillars are falling from trees at Baiyun Hill in Guangzhou the city’s only national scenic park and are scaring tourists and locals alike. This incident will be answered by the park after they allowed a commercial event to happen at the park that released more than thousand butterflies at the park
Between April 29 and May 12, a local company that selling and breeding butterflies released more than a 100,000 butterflies in the mountain resort during a festival that promotes butterfly culture. The company Dream of Butterfly breeds butterflies that are usually set free during product launches, commercial events and anniversary parties. The butterflies released at the park consist of 20 species such as common Mormons, golden birdwings, plain tigers and swallowtails.
The park and company said that releasing the butterflies in the State Park is environmentally friendly and will help encourage residents to love wildlife. But one expert disagrees saying that it poses a risk to the balance of the local ecological community.
By introducing a large number of foreign species artificially and clearing all caterpillar colonies without using pesticides and polluting the park will be a major task.
