Company Inaugrates New Facility to Serve as New Product Development HubW.L. Gore and Associates a US consumer products maker inaugurated a 20,000 square meter facility in Shenzhen that will serve as the new Asian production and product development hub that caters to its customers in the United States, Europe and Asia. The site construction is an expansion of an existing facility at the Futian Free Trade Zone that was started five years ago.

The expansion is said to cost US$ 50 million and will create 400 jobs and will double the company’s operation in Shenzhen. The capabilities anchored in Shenzhen spans the entire innovation and manufacturing value chain in areas like process development, new product and testing. And to further enhance product testing efficiency and capabilities in innovation the company dedicated an entire floor to laboratories that will also include from advanced testing facilities for product development and production.

Gore is a maker of breathable, waterproof fabrics and innovative products started to operate in Shenzhen in 2002, spending around US$10 million to establish their first operation in China and in 2004 obtained a license to manufacture electronic products. Shenzhen will be one of their most important production and product development bases in the Asia Pacific region.
