Park Improvements Help Turn Park into New Leisure Area
Walking on the greenway at Futian River is showing a complete cycling path that is linked by underground tunnels and footbridges over the river and is showing park improvements and its connections that is taking places across the district.
For example the Shenzhen Central Park is now divided into five sections and after the recent renovations it is fast becoming the new center of leisure and sports area for residents and visitors. The Central Park has links with Bijia Hill Park in the north and a connection with Shennan Boulevard and is one quarter of the size of the CBD in Futian.
The second phase of the park developments is scheduled to be finished in 2014 and will feature more sports and cultural facilities in the Hongli and Fuhua areas. The Fuhua area will house a botanical garden with camellia trees, pavilions and open squares giving people more room to rest, relax and play games. While the Hongli area focuses on promoting nature and science by housing a 300 square meter science museum and facility for bird watching plus a basketball and croquet facility.
Futian district is also planning to connect Central with Bijia Hill Park and Lianhua Hill Park with footbridge corridors that will allow residents to travel between both parks.
