Police to Limit Vehicles in Dapeng New Area Based on License PlatesPolice will be limiting the number of vehicles on roads in the Dapeng and Nan’ao subdistricts in Dapeng New Area. The restrictions will start next month will be based on license plate numbers. The policy is estimated to start on July 13 but the city government will be making a final decision on the start and end dates for the policy thus making it seasonal.

When the weather gets hot the tourism in eastern Dapeng and Nan’ao areas booms which causes serious traffic jams. By implementing the policy will mainly restrict private cars with Shenzhen plates. Then starting next year and the years to follow the restrictions will be implemented from May until October. Usually during holidays and weekends more than 40,000 vehicles going to beaches in the city’s east side as people are trying to escape the heat. Tourism buses, public vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, military vehicles and heavy trucks will not be included in the restrictions.

Residents in the two districts will need to get certificate from the police. Government agencies, institutions and enterprises are advised to register their vehicles with the local authorities. The policy has also drawn complaints from several tourism enterprises and has asked the Economic Service Bureau of Dapeng new Area to call for a public hearing before the implementation of the policy.

Business have been affected by the road projects in the past months and these businesses are waiting for the summer season to be able to turn around their business but then these kind of policy is planned. If this will push through guests and other visitors might go to other areas to spend their vacation.
