Shenzhen Made Items Brought on Board Shenzhou-10
Since the successful manned space launch a few days ago, Shenzhou-10 once again is gaining attention as the astronauts are using goods that are made in Shenzhen. Several Shenzhen made items such as Fiyta wristwatches, floating mattresses from MPE Bedding and plant seeds for Shenzhen Agricultural Technology Group were brought by the astronauts into space.
Fiyta watches have already been worn by several Chinese astronauts on certain space mission. A spokesperson for the watch company said that the Fiyta watches were made to endure harsh conditions in space ranging from temperature changes, pressure changes, radiation and force during takeoffs and landings. There were several watches used on other space missions, but the watches for the Shenzhou-10 mission were made from titanium alloy making it more comfortable and lighter.
MPE Bedding has been working with the Astronaut Center of China in developing beds that are suitable for outer space. The mattresses used in the Shenzhou-10 were made from advanced MEMO latex material that helps astronauts sleep in weightless conditions using intelligent controls.
Meanwhile the Shenzhen Agricultural Technology group have selected the best seed from six plants to be carried on board the Shenzhou-10 this include seeds of towel gourds, cucumbers, butterfly orchids, asparagus beans and iron sheet dendrobium which is the first plant to be used in space for medical purposes.
The plant seeds will be allowed to mutate in outer space since mutated variations nurtured back in Earth produces seeds of good quality, high yield and has a good resistance to diseases.
