Heavy Weekend Rain to Cool Summer Heat in the City
A series of heavy rain will be seen over the weekend will help cool off the summer heat that is felt in the city for the past couple of days. The rain is brought by a tropical low pressure system in the South China Sea that is 780 kilometers away from Shenzhen.
The city will probably see thunderstorms and showers this afternoon and potential heavy rain possibly torrential on Saturday and Sunday. The tropical low pressure system is moving northwest at 10 to 15 kilometers an hour towards the western coast of Guangdong Province and will grow stronger and might turn into the first tropical storm of the season. Local temperatures will drop to 25 degrees Celsius in the weekend. From May to August the conditions in the city is good for the dispersing of pollutants, and due to the heavy rains last month the air quality in Shenzhen was ranked in the top ten among Chinese cities.
Parents are reminded to take necessary precautions for the heavy rain and strong winds that is expected this weekend since students will be taking their high school entrance exams.
