Heavy Weekend Rain Suspends Extreme Sports Competition
Due to heavy rain last Saturday, competition of more than 100 athletes for the 2013 Anti Drug Cup Extreme Sports Contest was suspended. On when the even will be continues is not yet known. The sport event is hosted by the city’s anti drug office along with Shenzhen Extreme Sports Association said there is also a possibility for the event to be continued in august.
Various competitors came from different locations such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Macau, Hong Kong, England and Canada with some participants are winners in several international extreme sports events. This year’s event included contests for inline skating, parkour, BMX and other extreme sports.
Pascal Morasse-Raymond a known inline skater said that it was a shame the events were suspended de to the rain. He said that he always looked forward to this kind of events and he hopes that the event can resume as soon as possible. He as also glad that Shenzhen took the time to host such event since it was a great way to introduce people to extreme sports. Shenzhen is one of the cities in China that leads in extreme sports, the city have a growing number of young athletes that are slowly gaining interest in t\doing extreme sports. Also the city has local teams that won in international or at national competitions for inline skating, BMX and fixed gear bike racing.
This was the fourth sporting event hosted by the organization along with the city anti drug office.
