More Medical Resources Should be Allotted to Grass Roots Clinics
The deputy director for the Guangdong Provincial Health Department Liao Xinbo said that to help ease the burden of major hospitals and increase medical efficiency more medical resources should be allotted to grass roots medical clinics. Liao gave suggestions on how to introduce such effective medical measures during the 9th Annual CEIBS China Health Care Forum that was held in Shenzhen.
The topic during the forum was on the innovation of healthcare reform that will improve medical services in the region. Many residents are complaining that they find it difficult to see doctors and to get treatment in China, saying that most of the people suffering from minor or common diseases flocked to major hospitals to ask for treatment rather than small clinics which are capable of treating them.
The only possible solution is to bring more medical workers especially those coming from major hospitals to these grass roots clinics so doctors and other medical teams can work on treating major and significant diseases and ailments. But this goal cannot be achieved without implementing an institutional reform. The concept of the hospital, patients’ and medical staff should be changed and the government should adopt more effective policies to support doctors that prefer working in grass roots clinics.
