Shenzhen Hospital to Offer Eye Treatment Packages

Shenzhen Hospital to Offer Eye Treatment PackagesTo help reduce a patients risk of contracting eye diseases and other related ailments the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital will offer check up and treatment packages for eyes. The service will help patients suffering from eye or other potential problems. If surgery is needed it will be performed by a leading medical staff from Hong Kong.

According to David Wong a known eye doctor in Hong Kong, the eye services are aimed at children 16 years and younger, senior citizens and people suffering from diabetes. The hospital will also offer the first comprehensive examination for diabetic retinopathy on the mainland to assist patients from developing eye problems. A study was conducted showed that 30 percent of diabetic patients had diabetic retinopathy and 10 percent of them have vision problems with some losing their eyesight. But on the mainland most patients are not aware that some diseases can also affect their eyesight as well.

The hospital will also be introducing leading technologies in treating glaucoma and cataracts. The hospital will have one eye doctor on hand to work in the ophthalmology department of the hospital and the number will increase once other Hong Kong eye doctors gain their licenses to practice on the mainland.
