University to Add More Improvements to Meet Demands of Students
The Shenzhen University is now planning to add more improvements which will include more top level faculty members and the construction of a new college. Located in Nanshan District, the university plans to build and institution called City College in order to meet the demands of local students asking for higher education.
The college is expected to develop to a independent college that will accommodate local students and allow the university to expand recruitment of students from outside of Shenzhen. The location of the college has yet to be selected. Meanwhile the university is working on developing a top ranking institute during its 30th anniversary. That will expand their recruitment number to 40,000 to 45,000 in five years in addition the university will be setting up a doctoral and masters program, build national key laboratories, create engineering research centers and innovation centers as well.
Shenzhen’s University Party Chief Jiang Tanyu states that the university will be enrolling 80 to 100 prominent talents ranging from academicians and pioneering scholars with national talent programs from the Recruitment Program of Global Experts and the Changjiang Scholars Program from China and abroad.
As of the moment the university has more than 33,000 full time students, which is an increase of 89 percent from 2005. In the past seven years the university added disciplines from arts, philosophy, medical science and history with three more doctoral programs and State level specialties.
