Metro Plans to Install Free Wi-Fi Services Before the Year Ends
Metro authorities are now testing a system that will offer free Wi-Fi services to all Metro stations and on Metro trains as well. Authorities said that the Wi-Fi system will be installed on every station on the Shekou Line, Luobao Line and Huangzhong Line before the year ends. As of the moment the system is being testing at the Huaqiangbei and Civic Center stations. Luobao Line is the first line to provide free Wi-Fi service on trains and at their stations.
Longhua Line operator HKMTR Shenzhen Co. is now working on the design and has signed a deal with an outside service provider to offer free Wi-Fi on their line. Meanwhile at the Shekou Line Civic Center station, passengers can search for the Metro Wi-Fi network and everyone using a Wi-Fi enabled gadget can access the 40M bandwidth which is enough for using microblogs, WeChat and watching movies.
The signal uses the same frequency as the Metro Signal system which disrupted the signal system during last year’s trial runs. But the company said that the signal system have been improved through several testing and will no longer be able to disrupt Metro signals anymore.
