Airline Starts Offering Direct Flights to Thailand
Last Saturday, Shenzhen’s first direct flight to Thailand took off for the first time from the city’s airport. Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations in Southeast Asia. China Southern airlines will be offering two round trip flights to Phuket a week. Tickets are only available at travel agencies. Direct flights will be offered to individual passengers starting in September.
Each flight will leave Shenzhen at 2:45 pm and will arrive Phuket at 5:50 pm the same day. The return trip will leave Phuket 7:30 pm and arrives Shenzhen 10:35 pm also in the same day. According to the airlines the plane is capable of carrying 151 passengers.
Travel agencies said that more than 200,000 Shenzhen residents’ book tours to Shenzhen and by offering direct flights will further fuel resident’s interests in traveling to Thailand. Before residents traveling to Thailand had to travel either to Hong Kong or Guangzhou first before taking a direct flight. This means that residents had to wake up earlier to travel which is a waste of time, energy and money. Offering direct flights means travelers can bring more gifts since they’ll be traveling direct.
Shenzhen is considered as one of the second largest source of tourists to Thailand after Guangzhou. And the airline is also planning to open a direct flight to Bali, Indonesia by next month.
