Doctors to Soon Offer Multi-Site Practices in the City
Doctors practicing in Shenzhen will soon offer multi site practices on a trial basis in hopes to increase the medical services and efficiency in the city. The city provincial health department is reviewing a draft city regulation that will enable multi site practices and is expected to be approved soon.
A draft stated that doctors that are registered in Shenzhen won’t need to get approval from their medical employers or from the city’s health department before they start multi site practices. Doctors will only need to register on the city health department website. Doctors are allowed to work on many sites as they preferred in Shenzhen. This move is considered as the most important factors in promoting multi site practices in Shenzhen.
Shenzhen is the only city in Guangdong Province that is promoting multi site practices as the city issued a related regulation in 2010. But only one retired doctor has applied for multi site practices since he wanted to continue to work in a different hospital. The old regulation required doctors to secure approvals from hospitals, but these hospitals did not want their staff to work at other places so only a handful of doctors applied for multi site practices.
Other resorted to quit their jobs at public hospitals just to work at other hospitals, but this move didn’t increase services or resources at public hospitals. The new regulation will require public hospitals to report detailed rules for a doctor’s multi site practice.
