New Regulation for the Standardization of Visa Issuance
Last Monday, china have announced a new exit and entry regulation that is for the standardization of the issue of visas to foreigners together with related management and services. The 39-article regulation that will take effect on September will replace the previous regulation that was adopted in 1986.
The new regulations will be based on the reasons for entry, and the regulation has categories ordinary visas into 12 types with the new R visa intended for high level foreign professionals. A new type of visa is also introducing namely the Q visa that is intended for foreigners visiting relative in China. The regulation also said that educational, financial, telecommunications and medical institutions when necessary might be asked to verify foreign identities with the exit and entry agencies of the local public security. The regulation will also address any illegal entry, employment and residency.
A foreigner staying in china beyond the period that is allowed on their visa or residency permit will be marked to be living or residing illegally in china. The illegal presence will also apply to all foreigners admitted into the country without a visa and stays in China beyond the visa free period and failed to apply for a residency permit. A foreigner moving beyond any area to which their stay is restricts is also considered illegal.
Overseas students that needs to take part time jobs or internship may apply to the exit and entry management agencies of local public security with the school approval including information of their residency permits.
