More than 170 Doctors Given Approval for Multi-Site Practices
Shenzhen have approved more than 170 doctors for multi site practices due to the new policy that gave doctors the flexibility in improving medical services in the city. Around 20 of the approved doctors have applied for multi site practice for the first half of this year.
The 170 approval included application from individual and organizations and the number of individual applications have grown significantly in the past years. The provincial health department is now reviewing a drafted city regulation that enables multi site practices without approval. The draft stated that doctors registered in Shenzhen will no longer have to get approvals from their current medical employers or from the city health department before working multi site practices. Doctors will register themselves on the health department website. The department has not set any limit on the number of site a doctor can conduct services.
Public hospitals were ordered to change their policies so doctors can offer medical services in other sites and have to submit the details of their policy revisions to the health commission by September. Doctors with an intermediate skill level certificate can only apply for a multi site practices, and registered doctors in Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan can also apply for multi site practices in Shenzhen.
In cases of medical dispute, the site where the disputes have occurred must be the one to take responsibility. The draft also stated that the dispute will not involve other sites where the doctor is also registered.
