Popular Singing Competition Features Singers From Shenzhen
China has several singing competition aired on different channels, but after two episodes of its second season, the Voice of China a popular singing show top all challengers and once again took the top of the ratings chart. The show hosted by Zhejiang Satellite TV, the show is part of The Voice franchise that is based on a Dutch program. The second season which premier last July 12 with four famous singers as coaches.
The previous two episodes had four contestants hailing from Shenzhen. The four contestants Yao Beina, Su Mengmei, Liu Yating and Kan Liwen gain popularity after showing their outstanding skills and performances. Both Yao Beina and Kan Liwen are already well known signers in Shenzhen.
In the first two episodes, four contestants who grew up or have lived in Shenzhen —Su Mengmei,KanLiwen, Yao Beina and Liu Yating — gained increasing popularity with their outstanding performances and skills. Kan Liwen, a native of Inner Mongolia, and Yao Beina, fromHubeiProvince, already are well-known singers in Shenzhen.
Kan Liwen is already a well known singer in Shenzhen. After spending 20 years inShenzhenKanreturned toInner Mongoliaand opened up a tea house. During his time inInner MongoliaKandidn’t work on his music at all. He decided to go back to music after watching the firs season of the Voice of China. Yao Beina received most of the attention among all the contestants because of her beautiful voice and talent. LikeKan,Yaois also a well known singer in Shenzhen singing several popular song including the songs of Legend of Zhenhuan the No. 1 TV drama.
Su Mengmei is currently studying at theVirginiaCommonwealthUniversityin theUS. She traveled toShanghaiafter the summer started. Su prefers singing English songs and it was her first time to sing a song in Chinese. Most listeners dind’t think she would sing the blues in such a young age. Su also discovered during the competition that she and Liu studied in the same primary school in Shenzhen and both joined the school choir. 18-year-old Liu Yating was the girl net door type who got her ride to stardom by singing a powerful rock and roll song. Born to a family of civil servants in Shenzhen her parents at first did not approve of her chosen career. Since the age of 12, Liu will sing for free as long as she can find herself on a stage.
