Residents More Aware Of Garbage Classification After Visiting Properties Piloting the Program
Residents are saying that they can get more awareness of garbage classification better after a visit to the three residential properties in Futian that piloted a garbage sorting program. 30 residents were invited by the urban management administration to be part of the garbage awareness tour.
Residents praised the garbage classification program stating that it will greatly benefit the environment and society. They also took notice of the provisions of special dustbins for different types of waste which helps residents differentiate kitchen and recyclable waste from other garbage.
Home to more than a thousand household, these three estates piloted the garbage sorting program last year allowed residents to send their waste to six different locations at a certain time of the day. And by June all of its residents were already aware of the classification program. Visiting residents hopes that the commission will be able to provide housing estates with more garbage classification facilities and educate more residents on garbage sorting.
The city has been piloting the classification program at more than 500 selected locations including residential properties, schools, restaurants, government buildings and industrial parks. But a recent survey have shown that he not all residents in these locations were not aware of the program and have not been classifying waste properly. These practice could be partly blamed on the a resident unawareness of the program.
