Traffic Police to Scrapped Vehicle Restriction Plans in Dapeng
According to traffic police, the planned vehicle restrictions implementation in Dapeng Peninsula will be scrapped. The restriction that was put on trial last July received opposition from local residents and shops in the area. Also the retractions have reduced the number to visitors to the area which in turn took a toll on local residents.
Dapeng is one of the popular destinations for the holidays and traffic congestion is always seen during the holidays or on weekends. Merchants with businesses in the area signed a petition which protested on the plan of implementing the vehicle restriction. Merchants were told by the government that new roads will be built along with parking facilities under a unified management, but no progress is made in the past several years. Merchants are suggesting that the traffic police must issue more efficient measures in reliving the traffic congestion in Dapeng.
Because the roads in Dapeng are narrow and only a few parking facilities are available, these problem cannot be addressed easily in just a short period. As of the moment the Dapeng New Area is working with the city government to help accelerate the road planning and construction. For the moment travelers are asked to follow all traffic rules to help avoid congestion.
