Residents Advised to Take Precautions Against Heat StrokeOnce again residents in the city are reminded to take necessary precautions against sunstroke as the maximum temperature in the city is said to reach above 35 degrees Celsius during the weekend. Temperatures is said to peak around midday when the sun is high.

In the past month the Shenzhen Emergency Aid Center received reports of residents suffering from heat stroke, and doctors are advising residents not to stay outdoors too long especially when temperatures will hit 35 degrees or higher. July had an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and is said to be the coolest this year. The meteorological observatory issued a yellow alert due to high temperature this week or higher with occasional showers on August 13 and 14.

The hot weather help boost the sales of cooling products ranging from ice cold beverages, fruits, electric fans and air conditioners. At Carrefour their sales of cold drinks, ice tea and ice cream have increased by 30 percent. The weather has also driven up the prices of vegetables with an average of more than 2 percent in the past two weeks.
