Storage Facilities Business Starting to Trend in Shenzhen

Storage Facilities Business Starting to Trend in ShenzhenAs more residents starting to live in downtown Shenzhen don’t have big apartments, families particularly young ones are renting storage facilities to keep seasonal and little used items thus creating a new business trend.

Most of these storage facilities have professional equipment and is not costly to maintain, so people like to keep things there. Some are even taking advantage of the dehumidifiers that are being used in storage facilities to safely store bedding, winter clothes and paper items. Charging will vary from storage facilities. Some mini storage charges 120 to 130 yuan per cubic meter a month, while storage in Nanshan charges 90 yuan per cubic meter a month. These storage facilities also have 24 hour security monitoring and renters need special cards before entering the facility.

Renters are also asked to sign insurance contracts and renters can get up to 10,000 yuan in compensation for damages and theft, but will not be compensated if the fault is not traced to the locks or monitoring system of the storage facilities.

Usually renters store non valuable items such as small appliances, furniture and beddings. Valuable and expensive things like jewelry and documents are still stored in banks.
