The shoreline stretches 20 kilometers which creates a total marine area of 220 square kilometers.
A spokesperson for the Bao’an District Government stated that the coastline is located at the heart of the development triangle between the coastal cities of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and will have increase the importance of the key infrastructure facilities including the Zhongshan-Shenzhen Bridge and the intercity high-speed rail between Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shenzhen is still being constructed. Most of the coastline is close to the transportation hub located around the Shenzhen International airport and the development will help elevate the overall competitiveness in the area.
