Online Lucky Draw Created for Taxi Driver Hiring Process
Around 3,000 jobseekers are fighting over four vacancies per week at a job fair in Louhu District especially set up for taxi drivers. While existing taxi drivers are joining the competition of finding a better position, the ration of jobs might reach the ratio of 1:1,000. Insiders are saying that a stable income and low entry requirements are several of the main reasons behind the popularity if the profession.
To become a taxi driver a non driver applicant only has to present a driver’s license along with a qualification certificate and is required to have at least two years of experience in the taxi industry. To prevent irregularities and improve transparency the city created an online lucky draw for the hiring process that is overseen by a team of mid level officials from different taxi companies and veteran cab drivers. To make the whole process public three electronic screens are placed at the job fair.
Once a vacancy is available at any taxi company, it appears on an information database of taxi drivers that will be drawn by jobseekers. When a jobseeker gives up the opportunity to work, the vacancy will be returned to the taxi database to be drawn again. This system creates a fair and reasonable environment for potential taxi drivers.
