List Shows More Millionaires Living in Shenzhen than in other Chinese Cities
Based on the 2013 Hurun Rich List that was released last week, Shenzhen has more millionaires compared with other cities in the Pearl River Delta. This is the first time the Hurun Research Institute have compiled a list of the richest individuals in the Delta region. There are 152 people on the list, 73 residing in Shenzhen and 40 are living in Guangzhou.
According to Hurun, 22 out of the 73 richest people living in Shenzhen are among the world’s 500 richest individuals who also revealed that there are 8,000 people living in the Pearl River with a personal wealth of 100 million yuan and 130,000 people with 10 million yuan worth of personal wealth. The owner of Evergrande Real Estate Xu Jiayin, tops the PRD rich list amassing a personal fortune of 48 billion yuan followed by Ma Huateng of Tencent with a personal fortune of 47 billion yuan and the Yang Family who owns Country Gardens a real estate developer with a fortune of 43 billion yuan.
The richest people in the Pearl River have either made their wealth from investing in the real estate industry, manufacturing industry and the IT industry. Other industries that contributed to their local personal fortunes are in the retail, social services, resources, finance and investment and pharmaceutical.
The list also boasted on the largest number of the most generous individuals which measured their value of the cash or donations.
