International Marathon to be Held in December
The city’s first urban marathon will be held on December 8 will cash prizes amounting to US$142,000 this is before taxes are deducted to the top eight full length runners in the women’s and men’s division.
The 2013 Shenzhen Angel International Marathon will present two overall winners with the cash prize of US$30,000 each, but the price will drop to US$20,000 if the winner fails to finish the race in 2 hours and 13 minutes in the men’s division. While the 2 hours 30 minutes mark is given to the women’s division. Interested participants and racers can start registering for the race online on September 9 at www.sz-marathon.com.
Race organizers can the race for 10,000 racers, dividing it to 2,500 for the full marathon, 2,000 for the half marathon and 5,500 for the 6 kilometer race. The top 10 Shenzhen runners in the full marathon will be awarded 2,000 yuan each.
Two options for the race routes are being considered and will be revealed soon. Organizers states that the marathon will start and end at the Shenzhen Civic Center in Futian. The first route will travel west along Shennan Boulevard towards Nantou Checkpoint then turn toward Diwang Mansion and then back to the Civic Center. The second route will bring racers east along Shennan Road to Hongling Rods then turn to Binhe Road going west along Binhai Bouelevard to Nanhai Boulevard. Then from Nanhai Boulevard the route will extend to Shennan Boulevard before ending that the Civic Center.
