Administration Releases Regulation to Control Outdoor LEDs
A new outdoor advertisement regulation took effect in which the city urban administration is now responsible in approving outdoor LED that are bigger than 10 square meters in size. The urban administration together with the city planning and transportation authority will be working together on creating a detailed plan that will regulate the size, placement and brightness if the LED display.
Residents living near commercial hubs have seen and witness the changes involving billboards. Residents are saying that more businesses are using LED for their ads and with bigger and brighter LEDs with lights changing several times per second could be harmful to a person’s eyes. Other say because of the intensity of LED lights they find it hard to sleep at night. They say that even when your eyes are closed you can see the change in colors because of its brightness.
A local doctor at the Shenzhen eye hospital said that being exposed to strong LED lights can damage a person’s vision. Those exposed to stronger LEDs can even suffer from reduced vision and damage retinas causing cataracts.
