Government to Give More Subisidies to Push Use of New Energy Vehicles
The Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang said that the details on the subsidies that will be given to electric vehicles users will be released soon as China pushes the use of alternative electric vehicles is gaining popularity.
The government was revealed their plans to expand pilots for subsidies for electric vehicles to more cities. The government will also be doling out a policy support for hybrid vehicles makers and to construction more charging stations. In the past six months the number of new energy vehicles in China has increased due to these government incentives as sales for electric vehicles reached more than 11,000 units but the majority of these vehicles are for public use. The change in the subsidy could push and encourage more residents to purchase for their private use.
One resident bought an electric car that came with a 120,000 yuan in subsidies, but had to pay 16,000 yuan to have a charging station installed and to rent a private parking space. He also said that it was hard to find an installation for the charging pile since the parking space is small. Experts are saying that the infrastructure for private electric vehicles must be improves to attract more buyers.
Last year China had 27,000 electric vehicles on roads and 80 percent of these vehicles are used for public transportation. And once the country converts all of it public transportation into new energy vehicles, they will be saved 20 tons of diesel.
