List Shows More Female Billionaires in 2013
Based on a list released by the Hurun Research Institute in Shanghai, 32 year old Yang Huiyan became the richest woman in China for 2013 amassing a fortune of more than 50 billion yuan. The report also showed that half of the world’s richest female entrepreneurs are from China. The Shanghai based magazine said that this year saw a big jump in the number of female billionaires in China which only shows that China is becoming a good business environment for women. Huiyan the daughter of real estate developer Country Garden was first ranked on the list in 2007 after taking over her father’s stocks.
Ranking second is Chen Lihua the chairwoman for Fu Wah International Group with a fortune of 37 billion yuan. Wu Yajun who ranked first in 2012 went down to third after her assets were split after going through a divorce brought her wealth down.
Study showed that 25 percent of the richest women on the list got their wealth from the real estate development sector while 13 percent comes from the financial and investment sector. 9 percent each comes from the manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors respectively.
The 2013 list of richest women listed 17 female billionaires with personal wealth of more than 10 billion yuan while 11 made their debut on the list.
