Last January the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine released regulations on auto warranties that will take effect in October that will give customers the rights to return faulty vehicles for replacement or refund.
The 3R regulations namely repair, return or replacement which is also known as the three guarantees have been accepted not only by customers but car dealers an maker as well as it will bring mutual benefits to dealers, car makers and customers. Before there were no standards in which they can refer when car owners comes in to ask for replacement or a refund making it a difficult situation for dealers that are sandwiched between the buyer and car maker.
Even if companies are accepting the new rule, experts are saying that there are still challenges to be faced in terms of implementation and the proper authorities must revise this regulations and at the same time enforce it. Concerns were also raised on some car makers might require customers to get repair and maintenance in designates dealerships and to use only genuine and approved parts in order for the warranty to be valid.
