Campaign to Launch to Help Reach Air Pollution Control Goals
The city will be launching a massive campaign to reach its air pollution goals of reducing the number of hazy days in the city to fewer than 70 days par year in the next three years. During a citywide mobilization meeting, city mayor Xu Qin Said quoted that the city needs measures to promote the steady improvement of environmental quality in every way while strengthening eco friendly construction so local residents can enjoy the benefits of having green policies.
Based on the pollution target that is part of the 12th Five Year Program of Shenzhen, the city is aiming to reduce the number of hazy days that are designated as highly polluted by the end of 2015 wherein the annual average concentration of PM 2.5 will be set lower that 33 micrograms per cubic meter. To meet the PM 2.5 goals means faster improvement and promotions of the campaign. The city is hoping to reduce the annual average concentration to fewer than 30 micrograms by 2017.
The atmospheric environment quality is part of the Shenzhen quality and its tough standards are need for testing the achievements of improving the livelihood of residents. The city can’t set a high target for environment protection as unremitted efforts is needed to enhance the atmospheric environmental quality.
Residents are also encouraged to participate in the execution of the environmental improvement plan to further strengthen coordination during the air quality campaign.
