Volkswagen Opens Third Plant in Foshan
FAW Volkswagen started operations of their third manufacturing base in Foshan City in South China as part of a joint venture in the expansion efforts of the Sino German company. The new Golf sedan will be the first vehicle to roll of the assembly line in the branch of FAW Volkswagen in New manufacturing base.
The company aims to produce and sell at least 1.8 million vehicles by 2015. The 1 million square meter plant was set up in December of 2011 after the project was launched in June of the same year with an investment of a billion yuan with an annual capacity of 300,000 units. Together with its two other bases, one in Changchun in Jilin Province with an output of capacity of 900,000 units and the other one is at Chengdu in Sichuan Province with 540,000 units.
Established in 1991 in Changchun the company have delivered more than 7 million vehicles and for the first eight months of this year the company have already delivered more than 900,000 units 16 percent compared to the same period last year.
