Checkpoints in Shenzhen Expects More than 4 Million Cross Border Trips
Checkpoints in Shenzhen are gearing themselves as they expect more than 4 million cross border trips to happen during the National Day holidays starting tomorrow with the first two days of the holiday to be the heaviest of the travel time.
Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint in Nanshan is one of the busiest and most used border crossings is said to have more than 90,000 trips by Wednesday and a total of 750,000 cross border trips inbound and outbound. The inbound travel peak in the checkpoint is estimated to happen by Saturday or Sunday when most of the travelers are returning from holidays trips outside of Shenzhen. Officials are expecting an increase of around 10 percent of travelers crossing that is based on previous experience of the actual number of crossing that took place last year.
As of today a rush of inbound vehicles coming from Hong Kong will be expected. Residents planning trips to Hong Kong are advised to hold travels until the middle of the week and are also encourage to avoid peak hours at checkpoints which is from 8 am until noon and from 4 pm until 8 pm.
The city tourism bureau predicts that there will be around5 million residents in the city that made travel plans for the holidays which is based on a survey that they conducted. It also showed that around 40 percent of the surveyed residents are making travel plans within the Guangdong province, while 13 percent made plans for trips abroad.
