Mainland Universities Improved Positions in New World University Rankings
Two universities from the Chinese mainland have climbed to places based on new world universities’ ranking that was published by Times Higher Education. Peking University went up one place to 45, while Tsinghua University went up two places to 50.
The two universities have improved their position and have edged closer to the best universities in the world and both universities are considered as national flagship institutions which attracts global talent while inspiring others. Four universities from the mainland have entered the list of 300 top universities namely the University of Science and Technology of China, the Renmin University, Nanjing University and Fudan University.
While the Wuhan University of Technology, the Sun Yat-sen University, the Zhejiang University and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University also followed and brought the number of universities from the mainland to the top 400 list to ten. There were three universities that went down a few ranks namely the University of Hong Kong which went down to 43, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was down to 57 and the Chinese University of Hong Kong was ranked 109.
