Shopping Center to Display Works of Avant Grande Artists
OCT Contemporary Art Terminal will be hosting the works of avant-grande artists such as Zhang Xiaogang, Guan Wei, Wang Guangyi and Fang Lijun who are big names in the contemporary arts. Their works are on display at the O’Plaza shopping center in Nanshan.
The exhibit is titled the Collection from OCAT Shenzhen will be showcasing 13 paintings, prints, photos and sculptures that are created by 14 artists and are housed by OCAT from 2004 until 2011. The exhibit is intended to promote contemporary art to the public. Lectures and publications by OCAT are also put on display and free lectures by the participating artists will also be conducted during the exhibition.
Usually people visit museums or galleries to view art pieces, but now these art works are placed in shopping centers to capture the interest of people who are not yet exposed to the art culture. OCAT is located at the OCT-LOFT area will hold regular exhibitions at the shopping center.
This is not the first time OCAT will be exhibiting art in a high traffic area. Three pieces of art that are currently displayed in the O’Plaza were previously displayed at Qiaocheng East, OCT and the Window of the World Metro Stations in 2006.
