Shenzhen Improves Rank in Air Quality
Based on a report released by the provincial environmental protection department, Shenzhen went up three places higher in its air quality ranking taking the second spot among the nine cities around the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong. Zhuhai, Zhingshan and Huizhou rounded up the top four cities who improved their air quality rankings.
Meanwhile Foshan is at the bottom of the list after posting a PM2.5 average of 49 micrograms per cubic meter. Even when Guangzhou advanced to seventh place its PM 2.5 have increased by 9 milligrams which shows that the air in Guangzhou is getting worse. The monthly comprehensive air quality index differs from city to city and from daily air quality indexes that is used around the region. Data is compiled and then results are compared to the levels of the six major pollutants that are on the national list.
Furthermore data from the Ministry of Environmental Protection reports that the air quality in Guangzhou has been deteriorating. Last ranked 12th in January the city rank slowly went down. It ranked 21st in February then 45th in March then went back up to 32nd in April, 24th in May, 22nd in June, 40th in July and its lowest ranked in August at 50.
